How do I verify a list of email addresses?

To start verifying a list of email addresses, you will first need to make a free account on DataValidation. You do not need to input any credit card information to do so. You can sign up by email address or with your ESP credentials. If you choose to signup with email address, you can link your ESP account(s) once you are logged into the DataValidation app.

Verify by importing a list

Once an account has been created, you can easily upload a list of emails. Click the red “Import Lists” button in the right side of the page, then click “From a File” to import an unlinked list, and choose from our variety of upload options. You can drag and drop your email list or search for the file on your computer, as well as import your list directly from:

  • Evernote

  • Google Drive

  • a URL Link

  • FTP

Ensure your file is a .CSV formatted file with the email addresses in a single column. You can have other information in the list, as long as all email addresses are in a single column. Any list that is uploaded will be added to the “Unlinked Lists” section found in the menu bar.

Once you select the list you want to upload, you will need to input some information before the import can complete. On the next screen you will see the name of the list you are uploading as well as the first few lines of the file.

The list must have only one column of emails, but it can have additional columns for information associated to that email, such as name and phone number.

Select the email column, notate if there is a header row, and change the file name if desired. If you want to change or edit the original name of the list, you can do so at the bottom of the page. Click “Create List” to finish uploading your list to your account.

Once complete, you can review the Report Card and purchase the cleaned list results.

Viewing Imported Lists

Once imported, your list will start analyzing immediately and you will see a Report Card for each list. Once the analysis is complete, the Report Card will display the Overall List Score for that email list. The Overall List Score is an aggregate score of all the email addresses in your list. You’ll be able to flip the Report Card for a grade breakdown, containing the percentage emails that fall into each grade category on your list.

Verify by linking an account

Link ESP accounts inside the app by clicking on the red "Import List" button on the top right of the screen. DataValidation will pull in lists from any of the available ESP integrations currently supported.

Once you input your ESP login info, you will be able to chose which lists you would like imported to you DataValidation Account.
